Possible Duplicate:
Write an Elevator Pitch / Tagline

Note:

We are closing this domain naming thread. It is asking the entirely wrong question. See this blog post for details: Domain Names: Wrong Question

We're going to keep the name rpg.stackexchange.com. But we WILL be setting up redirects from the more "popular" domains names. (e.g. seasonedadvice.com to cooking.stackexchange.com, basicallymoney.com to money.stackexchange.com, and others as we go through the list).

New question: "Write an Elevator Pitch / Tagline!"

This question has been asked before and already has an answer. If those answers do not fully address your question, please ask a new question.

  • \$\begingroup\$ discussing domain names will most likely end with some annoying person buying the agreed one just to be a jerk. I hope it doesn't happen, but I feel it would be better the brainstorming is done through a different mean with selected people (chosen by the diamond users) \$\endgroup\$ – Stefano Borini Aug 20 '10 at 12:59

\$\begingroup\$ Sorry to be that guy, but should this be CW? \$\endgroup\$ – LeguRi Aug 20 '10 at 18:44
  • \$\begingroup\$ Can the suggestions for domains that are already taken be removed from the listing? \$\endgroup\$ – RMorrisey Aug 21 '10 at 8:29

\$\begingroup\$ I note there isn't 'one suggestion per answer' in the question. Should there be? \$\endgroup\$ – Tobiasopdenbrouw Aug 21 '10 at 18:49
  • \$\begingroup\$ @RMorrisey why remove names already taken? There's a number of domains that are being squatted, so if it fits our needs better it may be possible to still get it. Take a look at the post about domain names: blog.stackoverflow.com/2010/07/domain-names \$\endgroup\$ – Agent_9191 Aug 22 '10 at 18:18

\$\begingroup\$ We have to have some cheesy catchphrase like "Putting the Quest in Question" \$\endgroup\$ – LeguRi Aug 25 '10 at 20:20
  • \$\begingroup\$ I think the name should sound useful and practical as a source of information first, funny or in-joke-laden second. For that, the domain name should be self-explanatory or nearly so. Something like askroleplayers.com (which I've suggested). \$\endgroup\$ – SevenSidedDie Aug 29 '10 at 21:39
  • \$\begingroup\$ Extra points for being "like" the normal SE names (two words, first starting with an S) and not bizarrely crypto-fantastical \$\endgroup\$ – mxyzplk Aug 31 '10 at 12:53
  • \$\begingroup\$ So when does this question end? When the beta is over? \$\endgroup\$ – Maximillian Sep 21 '10 at 22:33
  • \$\begingroup\$ @LeguRi: what about "Accepting the Quest of your Question!"? \$\endgroup\$ – yhw42 Sep 28 '10 at 21:03
  • \$\begingroup\$ @yhw42 - The possibilities are endless!! :D \$\endgroup\$ – LeguRi Sep 29 '10 at 0:31
  • \$\begingroup\$ @MadMaxJr - It looks like some initiative has been taken based on this thread: askthetable.com and stackofdice.com have both been purchased by Stack Overflow Internet Services, Inc. Perhaps a mod should close this and open a tie-breaker question? \$\endgroup\$ – LeguRi Sep 29 '10 at 0:34
  • \$\begingroup\$ @C. Ross @Bryant - Looks like there will be no domain name after all: see Public Service Announcement: ongoing, offsite discussion about Area51 graduates' branding Anyone else find it a little sketch that that decision was made after buying the domains we voted on? \$\endgroup\$ – LeguRi Oct 3 '10 at 13:43

Natural_One.com

\$\endgroup\$
  • \$\begingroup\$ I'm not sold on the underscore, but naturalone.com suggests something to with naturism... :) \$\endgroup\$ – Marcus Downing Aug 20 '10 at 9:42

    \$\begingroup\$ Natural 1 is kind of D20 specific, no? \$\endgroup\$ – LeguRi Aug 20 '10 at 11:52
  • \$\begingroup\$ Yes it is but D&D is by far the most popular RPG out there. \$\endgroup\$ – RS Conley Aug 20 '10 at 12:56
  • \$\begingroup\$ ... and I don't think domain names can contain underscores. \$\endgroup\$ – LeguRi Aug 20 '10 at 13:57
  • \$\begingroup\$ what about natural1.com. It's currently taken, but doesn't appear to be used and is set to expire October 18 this year. \$\endgroup\$ – Agent_9191 Aug 21 '10 at 4:17
  • \$\begingroup\$ Instead of the suggested, try Natural-One.com I'm also pretty sure underscores don't work in domain names. \$\endgroup\$ – Iszi Aug 26 '10 at 17:30

kind of mundane but therpgexchange sounds good to me. But I vote for the naturalone idea as well it fits with parent site Stack Overflow. Critical Failure is also good and less D&Dish in it's focus.

I doubt it will be catchy, but after for whatever reason Knights of the Dinner Table popped in my head:

Another classic RPG joke:

fearthegazebo.com

  • \$\begingroup\$ +1 - I like the idea of a word play between role and roll. Perhaps something like rollplaying.com or rollandplay.com \$\endgroup\$ – LeguRi Aug 23 '10 at 13:19

MadMaxJr kind of proposed "YeOldeSwordExchange.com". I think it's too long. But we can work from here. The main issue is that they are fantasy oriented domain names. What about Cyberpunk RPGs ? the domain name should be method agnostic and setting agnostic. mhmm....

What about a completely disconnected name, such as one of a place or similar:

Arcaria, Serinai, Mikeides, Morlekur, Samyria

Should we try mindmapping concepts ? When do we have to deliver the domain name proposal ?

I splitted names so you can vote them independently.
