I don't really have anything else interesting to say, nor do I have any knowledge about what it takes to implement it. I'm leaving this answer to simply measure support for "Yes, I want dark mode".

Disclaimer since there seems to have been some confusion: yes, the proof of concept is fairly ugly. That doesn't matter, it's just a proof of concept - it doesn't have to look nice, just prove that the styling is possible. For a real theme, obviously, more effort than the 15-30 minutes of work I spent on the POC is required to get it done properly.

We can't modify the tour that way without developer intervention.
Only three parts of the tour are editable by diamond moderators:

You make a good point regarding Google ranking. I imagine that is frustrating when you're looking for a particular answer. Thanks for putting so much thought into this.

The tour is only a basic introduction to the site
The tour gives a basic, high level introduction to the site. And it's hard to give an actually useful definition of what a good answer is, especially that fits into a place like the tour. That fits better into the help center, and for any aspects which aren't covered by the (non-editable) articles there, meta....
