Thanks for all your hard work! I've always appreciated your presence and the good work of you and all the other diamond mods of RPG.SE! You've definitely made the stack a better place, and RPG.SE's moderation is one of the reasons it's my favorite site on StackExchange. I hope your in-person games and other "off-screen" activities go well, but hopefully you'...

I volunteer to mediate this process. I am putting this in an answer as neither Smurfton nor I are sure how to volunteer, per our comment under the question. I will guess that up votes and down votes will note the support (or lack there of) for me so acting.

Copied over from the other thread: Thanks, mxyzplk, for serving as a mod! I may never have remembered how to spell your username without looking it up, but I did appreciate the hard work put into the site by you, SevenSidedDie, nitsua60, and doppelgreener (you 4 have been the RPG.SE mods since I joined the site). Half the mod team being changed feels like ...

Thankyou for everything you've done! I may not have been around for as long as some others and didn't see you when you were most active, but I firmly believe I have felt your influence on the site. Reading old meta-posts, your high voted posts and your communications with users as a mod, I am constantly impressed at your thoughtfulness and communication. ...

Thank you for the greatest of gifts to give: your time We each have a certain amount of time to spend each waking day on all of the things that life puts in front of us. For the last four years, you have (at $0 dollars per billable hour, as it were) given a great deal of your time, effort, wit, wisdom, and judgment. All of this was offered, gratis, for ...

Come off it. No one uses cretin that way, because no one talks about cretinism anymore. And if you do, you're doing so out of ignorance: it's an obsolete term. I've been told that "spaz" is actually quite offensive in the UK. So if you're from the UK, and someone on the site calls you a spaz, then you have a legitimate complaint. I suppose since "spastic" ...

Thanks y’all! Sorry, I had planned a bit more overlap with the new mods and then to do an announcement, but looks like I’m sans diamond already. I’ve been a mod on RPG.SE for more than 8 years, and have seen the site from beta to present day. It’s been a wild ride at times, and at other times pretty calm as everyone focuses on the point of the site, Q&...

You've been a great contributor to the site and a great fellow mod. It's been an honor to work alongside you. Thanks for all the work you've put in, and enjoy your future on and off the site!

Thanks, things won't be the same without the prime die The moderation of this site is outstanding and one of the main reasons I choose to participate here. In the short time I've been active on this site I've come to appreciate your mod-ness and sensibilities. Wishing you all the best in your more relaxed participation here and all that you pursue and ...

Edits happen frequently at RPG.SE without the necessity of asking permission or notifying the author. These edits should happen if clarity can be improved. In fact, the edit you're citing wasn't by a moderator (moderators have a diamond next to their username to identify them), just a regular concerned user. All users with edit permissions can engage in this ...

Stack Exchange sites are moderated by the entire community of users, who unlock moderation privileges through contributions to the site. Some users also get elected by the community to become diamond moderators which is like a glorified janitor position. Here on meta is where we the community members moderate each others' activity where necessary (including ...

That's a picture of Venger, the force of evil and villain of the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon show from the mid-80s. He was voiced by Peter Cullen, a.k.a. Optimus Prime. He has wings and can fly. He rides a horse that does not have wings yet also can fly. The show is campy and did not age well, but I recommend watching it anyway. So the avatar is ...

No inappropriate moderation activity was conducted on you. I'm sorry that your first experience on the site was confusing. You seem to have run up against several different issues, which have convinced you you're being "picked on by a mod" while in reality it's just a variety of community members and several mods working to curate questions, answers, and ...

Just to add some information to help you understand what's going on. RPG.SE and the whole Stack Exchange network are a Question and Answer site. We have a decent amount of rules and processes in place to keep it that way. We are NOT a chat room or message board or a subreddit. We are a place where people go to get to information they need to solve ...

We've read your concerns and we've been discussing how to respond internally. TL;DR: Yeah, the situation was messy, but it was messier than that. We're sorry you weren't fully informed; we didn't see a way to fully inform the community about what was going on. I'll explain below. We don't have plans to expand to a fifth moderator slot currently. The ...

As a steady user on the site the last few years, I just want to say that I really appreciate everything you've done for and contributed to this site. Even though you may not have been visibly super active during my time, your presence and expertise were still distinctly felt and appreciated. Enjoy your normal userhood and I hope to see you around :)

We have a help centre topic on what to do when we disagree with a question being put on hold: What if I disagree with the closure of a question? How can I reopen it? Basically, the advice it gives can be summarised as “address the concerns brought up by the community, in an effort to change their minds about the hold/closure.” The response to the community'...

Thanks all! My first action as robot overlord will be to crush your hopes and dreams.

So, I'm not sure if nominating other people is kosher, but I'm pretty sure everyone on this site has a great deal of respect for BESW. If he's willing to help us sort this out, that would be super cool. Not sure we're all agreed it's worth his time though.

Because they are a mod and understand how the site works. They are trying to teach you how it works, but you're being remarkably resistant to learning. Try listening instead of just insisting that your question is perfect as formed, when you are new to a site and its format. One question per question. This is irrelevant to game system. Don't repost to get ...

I’m not a mod anymore but I can speak to the 2017 election and discussion and the lead-up to the latest election. Stack Exchange generally consults with and defers to the moderator team about how many moderators there should be. It’s more about what the team feels the need for than anything else. The process is pretty much that a CM drops by the mod chat ...

No, of course not, that would be wrong. However, I am not sure whose individual characteristics were derogated here. Besides that it was not directed at anyone except hypothetical fictional people in my game, the word "cretin" has long passed offensive usage. If you are looking for an "official" ruling, the only written rule on Stack Exchange is "Be nice....

RPG.SE can be daunting to a newcomer especially one with expectations set by forums, Reddit, etc. To address your points in order... The tour and help center by their nature can only give general guidance. It's expected that a new user might read some other questions on the site and learn by example what a good question looks like. It's really the only ...

Replace “honestly” with “openly”. The question is hiding the practical situation it’s about, and that’s a problem of content that can be described by a variety of words. The motives aren’t really important and I am sorry my choice of words give the impression that motive was an issue. That was careless on my part. It’s locked for the reasons described in ...

Over the course of the revision history of your question (deleted, so 10k+ users and author only), there were five related but different questions asked. These were being mixed together, so that no author-approved revision contained fewer than two of them, until the last revision. Unfortunately, that one final question was, even by itself, too broad by this ...

(Sometimes it's good to also have a regular user's perspective on questions like these.) Question: Why is someone who knows nothing about the game I am asking a question about telling me that my title and body do not go together? Because the title and the body really may not go together. A user need not have any experience with a game to offer ...

From what I gather from comments on your question, and its edit history, you've been acting in bad faith. I highly recommend taking the Tour and reading the FAQ. The Help Center may be useful to you as well. You may need to get oriented with how the different aspects of the site (questions, answers, comments, Meta, etc.) function. Stack Exchange does not ...

This site does not allow for duplicate questions. I note that you appear to have asked or answered this exact question several times on two accounts. You can't ask the same question multiple times, even if you disagree with the answer, without that question being closed as a duplicate. The standard way to correct an answer you believe to be incorrect is ...

I also volunteer to mediate. I made this question, and I do plan on following through with it if everyone else falls through. I'm likely not as good a choice as Korvin, but I'll likely be watching this closely anyway. I don't have a problem with the mods, nor do i have a problem with the people who have a problem with the mods (aside from their arguing).

I debated tossing in my 2 cents on this, but I think they might be helpful given that I am relatively new to the site (about 3 months). In addition, I wished to build a little on SSD's answer that the way the site 'works' can be a little unintuitive. For the record, I have little understanding of the moderator duties and things like that. I'm aware of up ...
